Creating a 12 km (approx.) shared path between Langs Beach and Mangawhai will be a community collaboration between the Wairahi Tracks Charitable Trust based in Langs Beach and the Mangawhai Charitable Trust.
The Wairahi Tracks Charitable Trust is part of a wider community group of track developers who have come together under the umbrella of The Piroa Trails Group (PTG) whose main goal is to establish a shared user path linking Waipu in the north to Mangawhai in the south.
This is a community-driven project on behalf of the residents of One Tree Point, Marsden Cove, and Ruakaka and aims to provide an alternative safe shared pathway route between the three communities. This community group has been working on this initiative for over 3 years.
The Waipu Cove Trail is Northland’s newest shared path and part of the wider Regional Trail vision. It has been a community-driven project led by the Waipu Cycle and Walkway Trust, which was formed to see this project through with support from Whangarei District Council.
