Huarahi o te Whai, Hatea Loop


Trail Description

Huarahio te Whai, Hatea Loop, is a 5.1 km shared path loop in the centre of Whangarei. It is an easy path that has a flat concrete or asphalt surface all the way. The loop crosses three bridges and passes the iconic Hundertwasser Art Centre, numerous cafes and souvenir shops, playgrounds, a skate park, and a BMX track.

  • Time: 20-60 minute depending on the ability and age of riders
  • Surface: Concrete, smooth
  • Suitable for: All bike types
  • Amenities: There are several toilets along the loop, drinking fountains, and playgrounds.
  • This is a shared path; please keep left at all times, your speed down and make pedestrians aware of you as you approach from behind.

  • Suitable for kids, scooters, prams, wheelchairs, dogs on leash.
  • Amenities: There are several toilets along the loop, drinking fountains, and playgrounds.
  • This is a shared path; please keep left at all times and shorten the leash when cyclists approach.
