Bike and Hike Northland Trust aims to benefit the community by promoting active recreation through all forms of cycling and walking in Northland, by:
- Providing leadership and support for community initiatives that promote cycling and walking in Northland;
- Advocating, promoting and educating the community about the health benefits of cycling and walking and safety;
- Facilitating the development of shared walking and cycling tracks, trails, and amenities.
- Promoting Northland’s walking and cycling tracks and trails to support economic development opportunities for Northland.

Our Projects & Programmes

Cycle Skills Training
Bike and Hike Northland deliver cycle skills training across the region. Training is based on the National Bike Ready education programme, which aims to improve the bike-riding competency of participants and make bike riding safer and more fun for everyone.

Bikes in Schools
Enabling all kiwi kids to ride a bike on a regular basis.
The Bikes In Schools package includes: bikes, track, storage, helmets and cycle skills training. Schools own and maintain the equipment and the bikes remain within the school grounds.

Northland Regional Trails Project
The Northland Walking and Cycling Strategy 2017 identified 700 km of existing and proposed trails that could deliver the vision for ‘Northland as one of the world’s best coastal walking and cycling destinations where the journeys and stories are as impressive and memorable as the scenery.’
