Whangarei Primary School gets a bike track, and bikes!

If you are a regular user of the Kamo shared path, you may have noticed the construction of a new bike-track around the field at the back of Whangarei Primary School during the October school holidays. The asphalt track is a first for a Whangarei School. With berms and small bumps and a few corners through the big trees, it provides a fast fun loop for students to ride around.

Riding bikes is proven to have a wide range of positive economic and social outcomes for schools and their wider communities, including; improved health, better focus, improved cycle skills, increased fitness, and greater confidence.

Many students at Whangarei Primary completed cycle skills training earlier this year using Bike Northland bikes. Now they have their own bikes at school to practice and improve their skills.
